When a child is ill and one parent takes the child sick leave certificate for it, Planbiene records who did that on which day. Over the year this creates a simple overview – meant for separated parents who share the sick days and want to know at the end of the year how many days fell to whom.

And how much money there is for it, the calculator further down on this page tells you – as a separate page and built into the App the same calculator can be found under 🧮 Sick pay calculator.

How much is there for it?

Straight to the figures: if the health insurance steps in, it replaces the lost net wage with child sick pay – 90 %, capped at €135.63 per day (as of 2026).

Recording a sick day

With + Record sick day in the bar at the bottom you log a day:

  • Child – which child it is about.
  • Day – the date. Every day is recorded individually; with three days of illness it is three entries.
  • Parent – who stayed with the child on that day or used the sick note.
  • Note – optional, for example the diagnosis or whether the doctor's note is already with the insurance.
One day, one entry. For the same child on the same day there is only one entry. If you enter the day again, the existing entry is updated instead of a second one being created – so an accidental double click cannot skew the count.

The yearly overview

At the top right you select the year; the years offered are those in which something has been entered. Below the year selection stands the total per parent – with several children additionally per child –, below that follow the individual days grouped by months, each with child, parent and note. Names are coloured by family role, as everywhere in the app.

Who is allowed to do what

Entering, changing and deleting is allowed for the adults of the family. A child sees only their own days and enters nothing – the overview is a matter between the parents.

What this is good for

The sick days for one child are limited per parent and per year. Whoever splits the days between two households quickly loses track of how many of them have already been used without a written record. That is exactly what this list is for – not as a settlement against each other, but as a shared status that both sides can refer to.
